Professor Patrick Horrigan (English) will be giving a reading from his new novel Portraits at an Exhibition (Lethe Press) on at St. Mark's Book Shop in the East Village, He will be reading with Sara Lippmann (author of the short story collection Doll Palace) and Jacob M. Appel (author of the short story collection Einstein's Beach House).

The image at right is one of the paintings featured in the novel, the portrait of Juan de Pareja (1649-50) by Diego Velazquez, now on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here in New York. Pareja was an artist and also Velzaquez's workshop assistant and slave.
