Jonathan Haynes: Upcoming Presentations


On May 9, 2017, Professor Jonathan Haynes (English) will give an invited presentation, "Nollywood: Trajectories of the Nigerian film industry," at Ben Gurion University in Israel. 

On June 7, he will give the keynote address, "Keeping Up: Paradigms for studying Nollywood and African screen media," at a conference in Berlin sponsored by Humboldt University, the University of Bayreuth, and Indiana University's New Media and Literary Initiatives in Africa program. 

On June 15th, he will present "Lagos and the Nollywood Imaginary" at the Second Lagos Studies Association Conference at the University of Lagos. The same day, there will be a special panel devoted to his new book, Nollywood: The creation of Nigerian film genres.

Jonathan Haynes: Paper Presentation

On April 20, 2017, Professor Jonathan Haynes (English) will give a paper entitled "Neoliberalism with Nigerian Characteristics: Theorizing urban identities in recent Nollywood films" at Texas A & M University, as part of a symposium in honor of the retirement of Kenneth Harrow.
